About Nona Jones

Born and raised in New York City, Nona Jones immersed herself from a young age in the rich culture that the city has to offer. She studied classical ballet, pottery and photography before moving across the country to attend University of California, Berkeley.

Upon graduation, Nona worked as a photo editor for several magazines including Mother Jones and Mademoiselle. For the past five years, she has worked at HBO producing photo shoots for such well known shows as The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Deadwood and The Wire.

The move into jewelry design came as a result of her dissatisfaction with the increasingly computerized nature of her profession and from her desire to express her own creativity in a new medium. After one class at the Fashion Institute of Technology she fell in love with the process of designing and creating jewelry. She has since gone on to study at The Revere Academy of the Arts in San Francisco and taken classes at 92nd Street Y in New York.

Nona’s style is both elegant and eclectic. She hammers and texturizes her handmade sterling silver ornaments and often combines them with colorful clusters of precious and semi-precious stones. The resulting designs are fresh and as much a delight to the touch as to the eye.
